“Transformers Prime – Darkness Rising” Presented for the First Time as a Feature-Length Movie

from Shout! Factory:

“Megatron has not been seen nor heard from in sometime, and if his return is imminent, it could be catastrophic,” said Optimus Prime.

The lure of the Transformers saga starts a new chapter as all foes return, legendary heroes rise, and new ones are found in unlikely places. The new CGI animated series Transformers Prime which currently airs on The Hub television network and is a Hasbro Studios production, deepens the epic mythology of both the Autobots and Decepticons, while starting fresh for a new generation of fans. Arch rivals the Autobots and the evil Decepticons, led by Megatron, once again face-off in their rivalry for control of Earth in this new show. Celebrate the triumphant return of the Autobots through cutting-edge CGI animation with Transformers Prime – Darkness Rising. In early 2011, loyal Transformers fans, as well as families and kids, were introduced to this visually stunning five-part miniseries on The Hub. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Autobot Ratchet, Bulkhead, and many others are back to “roll out” against Megatron’s latest attempt to conquer Earth. And Megatron proves to be more powerful than ever, having acquired a rare element that allows him mastery over life itself. Optimus Prime and the Autobots may be few against the Decepticon hordes, but they find increased strength through bonds forged with three human teenagers.

On December 6, 2011, Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Hasbro, will release Transformers Prime – Darkness Rising on DVD, featuring the entire five action-packed episodes edited together in a seamless, riveting movie and special bonus content that includes animatics and a special look at concept designs for characters and backgrounds. Delivering a new level of heavy metal action and family entertainment for all ages, this highly collectible DVD is priced to own with a suggested retail price of $14.97.

Transformers Prime – Darkness Rising boasts an all-star voice cast, including Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Steve Blum, Jeffrey Combs, Dwayne Johnson, among other notables. Transformers Prime is produced by Hasbro Studios. Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Kline are executive producers. Kurtzman and Orci served as writers for the feature films Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Transformers Prime recently garnered two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation and six Emmy nominations.

“The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword” Is An Epic Adventure Not to Be Missed

from Nintendo of Canada:

The most epic game Nintendo has ever produced is set to soar into stores. On November 20, Nintendo introduces The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword exclusively for the Wii home console. It’s a sweeping adventure that all players, regardless of the type of video games they play, will want to pick up. Critics are already lining up with their accolades: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has earned perfect-10 reviews from leading outlets Game Informer and IGN.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a once-in-a-console-generation game,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “This new adventure offers intense sword combat, engaging puzzles and a beautiful, stylized look. Once again, The Legend of Zelda franchise finds ways to surprise and challenge players.”

The world of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is expansive. The game takes players flying in the air, searching through dungeons and exploring on land. Players help heroic Link explore volcanoes, forests, deserts and the sky itself. The epic quest lays the foundation for the events in the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and marks a turning point for the franchise.

The game uses the motion controls of the Wii Remote Plus controller (or a Wii Remote controller with a Wii MotionPlus accessory) to immerse players in the action. Every motion, whether swinging the sword to fight enemies, tossing bombs or shooting arrows, feels natural and intuitive. Players must solve each battle by analyzing enemies’ attacks and defenses and coming up with effective countermeasures.

The game will be available at a suggested retail price of $49.99 in Canada. A limited-edition version will be offered at a suggested retail price of $69.99 in Canada, which includes a gold-coloured Wii Remote Plus controller.

As an additional treat for fans, every game in the initial production runs will include The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Special Orchestra CD at no extra charge. This special recording features 45 minutes of iconic music spanning the
25-year history of the Zelda franchise and offers fans who weren’t able to attend the sold-out Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony concerts in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London an opportunity to hear some of the arrangements created for those shows.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit nintendo.com/wii.

Post-Apocalyptic Adventure Awaits in RiffTrax’s New VOD “Warriors of the Wasteland”!

from RiffTrax:

There’s an old saying that goes “Behind every successful movie, there’s a horrible Italian rip-off of it that uses three seconds of endless looped drumbeats as its soundtrack.” Never has this reliable chestnut been more true than in the case of Warriors of the Wasteland, which proudly acts as the mangy dog, devouring the table scraps that The Road Warrior turned up his nose at, opting instead to lick itself for nearly half an hour.

Yes, once again the inhabitants of Earth have reduced our proud, McRib-consuming planet to a smoldering wasteland. You might assume nukes, or genetically altered chimps are the culprit. Wrong you are, (though if you’ve recently ate a McRib, you’ve likely consumed some of the latter.) This time around what did us in was — Books! How did this happen? It of course is not explained. But it was books, you sure can count on that!

So the Warriors of the Wasteland drive around in their admittedly sweet cars, sporting their admittedly heinous hairstyles, kinda resenting books and occasionally massacring an outpost of survivors. If you can suspend disbelief for just one moment, hear this: there’s a heroic lone wolf who attempts to enforce justice on these criminals (we know, it’s a groundbreaking path for a character to follow.)

Books may have caused the apocalypse, but laughable special effects and ludicrous dialogue certainly survived it. Please join Mike, Kevin, Bill and a bunch of folks who couldn’t afford tickets to Thunderdome for Warriors of the Wasteland.

Oh, what sad times are these when ruthless trolls can post “Meh” and spread their negative comments at will. There is a pestilence upon the interwebs; nothing is sacred. “Fossil Fighters: Champions” for Nintendo DS Packs a Prehistoric Punch

from Nintendo of Canada:

As consumers dig into their holiday shopping this season, they can discover a way to dig for fascinating fossils and encounter some extraordinary virtual creatures. The Fossil Fighters: Champions game launches today exclusively for the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems. The game asks players to use precision to clean ancient fossils, skill to assemble fantasy teams of revived dinosaurs called vivosaurs and strategy to battle those vivosaurs in a grand tournament.

Fossil Fighters: Champions turns players of all ages into budding paleontologists,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “Up to four players can dig in and have fun.”

Fossil Fighters: Champions requires players to excavate and carefully clean ancient dinosaur fossils using the Nintendo DS stylus as a hammer and drill. The more effectively the fossils are cleaned, the more powerful the resulting revived vivosaurs will be in battles. Giant fossil rocks containing complete dinosaur fossils and two-sided fossil rocks are new to the franchise. Players can discover more than 140 vivosaurs. By finding rare golden fossils, they can even transform certain vivosaurs into powerful new “Super Evolver” forms.

Once players have successfully cleaned a fossil skull, they can revive a vivosaur and prepare it for battle. Players then command a team of three vivosaurs in turn-based battles, using their vivosaurs’ unique skills and special attacks. Players can also rotate their vivosaur formations during battle to give them an edge over opponents.

The game contains a number of wireless features as well. Players can compete in matchmaking battles or upload their best team to see how it fares against others. Players with broadband Internet access can use Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to download additional vivosaurs and events that offer unique challenges and surprises, including a number of vivosaurs that cannot be found elsewhere in the game. Using DS Download Play, one player who has the game can connect wirelessly with up to three other Nintendo DS owners within range and cooperate to expertly clean fossils together.

ThinkGeek Sends Santa a Special Message

from ThinkGeek:

Did you see it?

“We are star stuff contemplating star stuff.” So said today’s birthday boy, Carl Sagan, who was born today in 1934.

We were definitely contemplating star stuff when 1,300-foot wide Asteroid 2005 YU55 passed overhead last night and this morning just 0.85 lunar distances from Earth. And we thanked our lucky stars that it won’t collide with the Earth for at least another 100 years, which oddly enough, will be about the next time we have a binary day. Coincidence?
