Shout! Factory: Headin’ Down to Comic-Con

from Shout! Factory:

So we’re taking off for the big event in a matter of minutes. It’s set to be a great year for Shout! Factory. As a reminder, we wanted to let you know about our “whats and wheres.” The Roger Corman: King of the Independents panel is in Room 25ABC on Friday at 5:30. It stars Roger and Julie Corman, directors Joe Dante and Allan Holzman, actors Sid Haig and Mary Woronov and moderator Alex Stapleton, who recently completed a film about the beloved filmmaker.

We’ll be in booth #3749 again. That’s Hall D in the back row near the concession stand (yes, we planned it that way). We’ve scheduled a slew of signings! In chronological order: Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Larry Blamire, Trish Geiger, Susan McConnell, Andrew Parks, Frank Dietz and Mark Redfield (Dark and Stormy Night and The Lost Skeleton Returns Again); Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Roger Corman, Julie Corman and Joe Dante (the Roger Corman’s Cult Classics series, including Piranha [1978]); Friday at 3:00 p.m. with Stephen Collins (Tales of the Gold Monkey); Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with Gregg Berger (the animated G.I. Joe: The Movie and The Transformers); and Saturday at 6:00 p.m. with Jim Beaver (Dark and Stormy Nights / Supernatural).

We’ll be selling many of our new and upcoming releases and offering special gifts with purchase for these titles: Max Headroom: The Complete Series (an 8×10 cast photo), Dark and Stormy Night and The Lost Skeleton Returns Again (a bonus DVD called Tales from the Pub), Gamera, The Giant Monster and Gamera Vs. Barugon (an 8-pack postcard set), G.I. Joe: The Movie (a dogtag flash drive) and Piranha (a 16×20 poster). All items are limited edition, while supplies last.

Lastly, we’ll have a Max Headroom photo booth set up where you can “become” Max Headroom. Stand behind the cut-out, sport the nifty Max glasses and have your picture taken. Max sunglasses are also limited in numbers, so come by early! The booth will be open at these times and days: Wednesday at 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at 10:00-noon and 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday at 5:00-7:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 9-noon. See you at the Con!

Clone Hunter

from Pandora Machine:

Clone Hunter, the much anticipated science fiction thriller from Pandora Machine, will be released nationwide on DVD by Lifesize Entertainment on August 10, 2010. Clone Hunter is the fifth sci-fi feature from New York based production house, Pandora Machine. The company has been building a loyal audience over the past several years with titles like Solar Vengeance and Millennium Crisis. Clone Hunter stars Ben Thomas, Angela Funk, and 2009 ITA Nominee David Ian Lee.

“LIVING FOREVER TAKES LESS TIME THAN YOU THINK!”

Pandora Machine has relied on the time tested formula of sharp screenplays and strong acting to create entertaining sci fi films. “Clone Hunter is a fun film that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Like most of our work, it is in the spirit of the late 70’s and early 80’s Roger Corman ‘paceploitation’ films,” said director Andrew Bellware. The script was written by UK scribe Eric Ian Steele. Many of the visual effects in Clone Hunter were crafted using the open souce animation program Blender.

“HEY WE’RE GUNS FOR HIRE, BUT WHAT ABOUT THEIR SOULS?”

What happens if the artificial intelligence that enables the wealthy and powerful to live in limitless luxury wants to share in it? Ben Cain and his junior partner, Rachel, are hired by Gulliver, a brutal Oligarch, to track down a murderous clone that threatens the stability of Gulliver’s private planet. The more Ben and Rachel delve into the case the more corruption and rot they discover, until they come face to face with their own darkest secrets and must decide which side they are on.

Clone Hunter is the kind of entertaining movie that Hollywood seems to have forgotten how to make,” said Lifesize Entertainment President Bruce Frigeri. “It values story over spectacle and character over cliché in a way that audiences will love. We’re delighted to be distributing this film.”

About LifeSize Entertainment:
Lifesize Entertainment is a full service North American Distribution Company and Worldwide Sales Agent for quality feature films and documentaries. LifeSize DVDs are now exclusively distributed by E1 Entertainment.

Title: CLONE HUNTER
Running Time: 86 Minutes
Pre-Order Date: July 13, 2010
Street Date: August 10, 2010
MSRP: $24.98

Clone Hunter is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com and other e-tail sites. It is also available for rental reservation on Blockbuster.com, but not Netflix, as of this writing. Clone Hunter’s trailer may be viewed at http://vimeo.com/10988518.

News that Squishes

from Squishable:

Hey Folks!

If you were running through a journalism rainstorm, well you wouldn’t want that precipitation to be made of hard, scary news. No, indeed. You’d want your weather in the form of soft, splashy, Squishy News! And here it is!

Take Your Squishy to Work Day… for the Gulf! Since it seems like no one knows what to do about the oily mess down in the Gulf, your Squishable is taking matters into his own hands! This Thursday, July 22nd, bring a Squishable into your office, classroom, or underground secret lair. For each image you submit of your Squishable exploring the perils and excitement of your workplace, we’ll donate a dollar to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for the Environment of the Gulf Fund! And to thank you for caring about the environment, we’ll also give everyone at your office a 10% off coupon to use during the following week.

Warn your coworkers! Tell that cute girl or guy who lives down the road! Check out the official Take Your Squishy to Work 2010 page for all the details, including how to submit pictures and get your coupon. And check back on the 22nd when we’ll be updating the site with your #gulfsquishy Tweets all day! This is some seriously good karma stuff, folks!

New Understudies! We’ve got some!

Squirrel Understudy — How cool are squirrels? Very! They can live just about anywhere including under your bed, where not even your mom dares to venture! Hug a squirrel!

Hedgehog — This fuzzy, squishy hedgehog is recursive! That means it’s a hedgehog that itself helps other hedgehogs. Every one of these Hedgehogs helps to finances the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual release of orphaned wild animals. Which is great!

Summer Camp Care Packages — Ohhhh summer camp, time of marshmallows, campfires, and bug spray. You know what would make it even more awesome-er? A Squishable! Unlike those candy bars you stored in your bunk, Squishables rarely get eaten by raccoons. Send a Squishable Summer Camp Care Package!

New gallery pictures — Aaaaand there are new pictures of Squishables and their very attractive humans up in the Gallery! Wanna kill some time? We’ve got you covered.

Thanks folks!
