A new short to get you into the holiday spirit: Christmas Rhapsody!

Christmas Rhapsody, the latest entry in the Rhapsody series, comes fresh on the heels of Thanksgiving Rhapsody and Cyber Monday Rhapsody. And though Webster’s defines Rhapsody as “A highly emotional utterance or literary work,” most of us know that the true meaning of Rhapsody is a depressed sentient Christmas tree, bemoaning its own “No Account” status in the world.

If Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree and Eeyore the Donkey had a baby whom they denied the Prozac it so desperately needed, it would still be more fun to talk to than the tree in Christmas Rhapsody.

What a year we’ve had!

District 9, Avatar, Under the Mountain and The Lovely Bones all saw the flicker of projector lights in 2009.

A new website. We can’t thank you enough for making this a success and for being so patient with us while we iron out the kinks.

Weta started design on The Hobbit and welcomed Guillermo del Toro, John Howe, Alan Lee and many other old friends back in the workshop.

A new forum, run so professionally and enthusiastically by Charles and our great friends at the Shadow and Flame.

Greg Broadmore wrote and published his second book, VICTORY!

The Weta Cave will at the end of the year have seen over 100,000 visitors.

Reepicheep and the other Prince Caspian statues saw the light of day.

The Exceptional Exhibition reached Chengdu and helped support Sichuan Earthquake victims.

We returned to Middle-earth with a bang. Peter Lyon swords, environments, Gollum.

Weta’s Mermaid Tail sparked imagination all over the world.

The WotWots took the world’s pre-school children by storm.

Dr. Grordbort’s travelled to Oamaru.

John Howe chose Weta to sculpt and release his Middle-earth sculpture range.

Grorbort Industries released 3 miniatures, one light-weight, one NEW full size gun (today) and 13 one-of-a-kind custom rayguns. And the first Venusian insect specimen! Today!

Our Doctor Who statues and helmets arrived in the warehouses and have been enjoyed by fans the world over.

To summarise — We have all had a blast and we’re looking forward to 2010 like you wouldn’t believe. There will be exciting announcements, new licenses, new products and much much more! Until then, we will be taking a break. There will be people here for urgent queries and web orders, but please bear with us for the next few weeks.

Another 365 days of aether oscillations have come and gone. At Grordbort Industries, we intend to celebrate that with a lethal cocktail of Pimms, Lemonade and experimental fireworks. However — we sincerely hope there are enough of us left in January to take you all on a humdinger of a journey again in 1912. In case we don’t, however, we have decided to launch two brand new products below. We don’t want you to miss out because we’ve been playing with fire… Please also note that while we’re fooling around with explosives in this reckless manner, the office will be scantily staffed, so we beg of you to please bear with us.

The Blue Sacked Pillock available to order!
The Blue Sacked Pillock is the first in a planned series of fantastical insectoids from the Universe of Dr. Grordbort’s, hand made by the world class artists at Weta Workshop. Each only available in an edition of 50 world wide. This is what Lord Cockswain’s field notes say about this specimen:

Entomologically preserved specimen collected Venusian steppe sector VI, near Mount Kann-Udl. Mounted and framed. A1 condition.

Characteristica

The male Blue Sacked Pillock is a weedy little bugger whose fore-limbs (in fact its only limbs, not counting the “wings”) are disproportionately elongated. The most obvious peculiarity is, however, the bulbous and rather sickly blue inflatable appendage that makes up the rear third of the animal.

The good folks in the Product Development shed at Grordbort Industries (none more so than the unfortunate Mr. Pearce) were hired to go down seldom trodden paths in their relentless quest for perfection.Who doesn’t recall the infamous Troglodactic Confounder of ’86. he carnage! Incredible. This time, while hiding behind the generic moniker of “Ray Gun”, their engineers claim to have perfected the elusive infra-compunctive resonance perversion (IRP). Early field tests allegedly left much to the imagination (particle acceleration — my ****!), but recently, the Pearce test range near Inverness has had more than occasional visits by the emergency services. VIZ Media to Kick Off 2010 with the Release of New Manga “not simple”

not simple follows Ian, a young man with a fractured family history, as he travels from Australia to England and on to America in the hope of realizing his dreams and reuniting with his beloved sister. Another of Ono’s manga series, House of Five Leaves, is an action drama about samurai during the height of the shogun’s rule in Edo-era Japan and is also currently serialized on SigIKKI.com.

Natsume Ono is one of today’s top creators of seinen manga — designed for adult readers of mature and more sophisticated stories. She made her professional debut in 2003 with the web comic La Quinta Camera and subsequent works not simple, Ristorante Paradiso, and Gente (a continuation of Ristorante Paradiso) have met with both critical and popular acclaim. In 2009 Ristorante Paradiso was adapted into an animated TV series. Her manga drama House of Five Leaves (Saraiya Goyou) is currently published in Japan in IKKI magazine.
