from GeekChicDaily:
It takes a fair bit of craft to create an online world at war, if you know what we’re saying. It takes even more if you’re going to build one and then try to rip it apart with eight different competing dimensions, all of which can suddenly bust open a player’s reality real fast.
In Rift, an expansive new MMORPG, players take one of two sides in the battle for the ever-changing world of Telara, but must keep their eyes peeled for the rifts that can bring in new adversaries from the Planes of Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Life, and Death. And while it may seem ironic, yes, the forces of the Life Plane will try to kill you too.
An immediate standout of the game is its massive dynamic battles. Baddies from the planar rifts sometimes charge out of the rifts en masse, creating zonewide invasions that will have you at the edge of your seat and fighting for your life. These ginormous combat events sweep through entire zones — crushing quest hubs and monsters alike — and culminate in glorious boss fights (with phat lewt) that remind you why massively multiplayer games were made.
Building your character is a blast with Rift’s Ascended Soul system. Want a mage that heals or a cleric that tanks? How about a warrior that switches between Player vs. Player terror and main tank for a raid? A teleporting rogue assassin? Create virtually any kind of character you can imagine; be anyone you want to be. It’s the Telaran version of the American dream. Only with borrowed dead souls.
Enter the Rift direct from Trion here, or anywhere games are souled.
