ThinkGeek launches Music Synth Shirt + My First Bacon

from ThinkGeek:

Salutations, fellow time travelers!

We just passed by our favorite time of year: the night it was 1 AM twice! Pretty handy for those of us singing Rock Lobster into the wee hours of the evening and driving our neighbors crazy with erratic drumming on Rock Band 3. (Some of us just can’t handle the eye-foot coordination bit.)

We hope you filled your extra hour with whatever makes you happiest, even if it was a golden hour of slumber. You’ll need it to handle the ROCK in this email!

Electronic Music Synth Shirt!!
Just in time for Rock Band 3… This fully-playable, t-shirt-based music synthesizer features professional quality sounds in a unique wearable format. With eight-voice polyphony, high-quality sampled sounds and stylist retro amp box, you’ll be jamming like Thomas Dolby and Kraftwerk in no time. Just be forewarned: your neighbors will complain, but it’s only because they can’t stand the reminder of just how much more awesome you are compared to them. Be kind and turn your volume all the way down to 10. We should also note that wearing the Electronic Music Synth Shirt may result in an overwhelming surge of emails, text messages and phone calls, strangers sending you their underpants, and paparazzi photographing your trip to the comic book store. Such is the life of a rock god. Get used to it.

My First Bacon Talking Plush!!
Huggable Bacon by Popular Demand. Last April Fool’s Day ThinkGeek launched a lovable plush bacon toy for kids to increase childhood awareness of bacon. Unfortunately it was just a well-executed joke (as our April Fool’s products tend to be) and children everywhere sadly hugged their plush Broccoli with disappointment. Now, thanks to your kind complaints and demands, My First Bacon is real! Take home your own cuddly bacon. He talks and says “I’m Bacon”… as if you didn’t know. This reminds children that no matter what happens in life, they should be true to themselves and always be proud of who they are. Which are bacon lovers, of course.

Take $10 Off Your Order — A match made in heaven?
With the new Electronic Music Synth Shirt and My First Bacon, we can’t help but think it would be awesome if someone made a techno composition involving both of them. Hypnotize vegetarians into wanting to eat pork? Probably not, but you can use code BACONTRANCE for $10 off orders of $40 or more, good through 11/12/10 at 11:59 PM ET.

Nintendo Files Official Trademark for Catchphrase “It’s On Like Donkey Kong”

from Nintendo of Canada:

In honour of the upcoming November 21 launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii console, Nintendo has filed a request with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark the pop-culture phrase “It’s on like Donkey Kong.” For those unfamiliar with the term, “It’s on like Donkey Kong” is an old, popular Nintendo phrase that has a number of possible interpretations depending on how it’s used. In addition to Nintendo’s use, it has been used in popular music, television and film over the years, pointing to Donkey Kong’s status as an enduring pop-culture icon and video game superstar.

Donkey Kong is one of the oldest and most recognizable video game characters. He has been a pop-culture icon since the launch of his 1981 self-titled arcade game. Donkey Kong again rose to prominence in the 1994 Super NES game Donkey Kong Country. His new game, Donkey Kong Country Returns, marks his triumphant return in a new side-scrolling adventure with new challenges amid a beautiful setting. The game features the first simultaneous cooperative game-play mode for the series, with one player controlling Donkey Kong and the other controlling his agile pal, Diddy Kong.

On November 21, It’s on like Donkey Kong!

Witchblade Creator Spaces Out with “Ulysses Squared”

from GeekChicDaily:

So you think being a cyborg would be boss? What if it required getting filleted like sushi and implanted with alien tech? When astronaut Alan Ulysses Grant has an uncomfortable encounter with an alien space probe (not THAT kind of probe) he awakens to that very fate.

Ulysses Squared is the latest project from Witchblade co-creator Brian Haberlin, who describes the passion project as an illustrated novel. As he tells GeekChicDaily in our exclusive interview, “I… like the idea of kind of a children’s book for adults. Something lushly illustrated, similar to Dinotopia, but not eight panels a page.”

Designed to repair otherworldly warriors injured in battle, a lost alien craft stumbles into our galaxy. When it encounters astronaut Alan it sees his vulnerable human features as injuries. The probe ship gives him the only makeover it knows, transforming him into an a$$-kicking cyborg super-soldier. If he gets into serious danger, armor spouts out of his body to encase him for his safety (see the armor design in our exclusive Ulysses Squared image gallery). Unfortunately, the ship also gives similar gifts to an old broken-down Soviet space weapon, code-named Ares.

Though he says the theme of the story is man dealing with transformation, Haberlin’s primary motivation in creating the character goes all the way back to one of his first childhood heroes. “I really wanted to make my Six Million Dollar Man. I loved that show when I was a kid… he was like our 007, but with these extra powers.” Check out GCD’s exclusive images from Ulysses Squared, and be sure to read our feature interview with Brian Haberlin. Look for Ulysses Squared on shelves Q3 of 2011.
