Battlegrounds are so fun these days. And by fun, I mean easy. The Alliance noobs that funnel out of their base might as well have targets painted on their bellies. I’ve taken to calling Arathi Basin “The Honor Farm”, which is ironic because there’s really no honor in dominating a squad of Night Elf mouth-breathers. Well, there’s no honor, but it’s still a hell of a lot of fun! >=D

PVP used to be such a challenge: a field of evenly-matching combatants, battling with wisdom and strength in a fight to the death! Now the Horde can’t even field a proper army. They just send out a squad of swaddling toddlers, noobs who pick their nose with their wands and hold their swords by the pointy end! Come now, pathetic creatures of the Horde! Surely you can do better!

Boom! Studios Offering Up Stan Lee Comics App

from The Associated Press:

Stan Lee, whose career writing comic books has run from the golden age to contemporary times, is going digital.

Boom! Studios said Monday that the man who helped create modern marvels like the Fantastic Four and X-Men will see his current crop of comic series available online and on mobile devices through his own app by way of the Los Angeles-based comic and graphic novel publisher.

Dubbed the “Stan Lee BOOM! Comics App,” the program is being offered through Apple’s iTunes app store. Lee’s superhero comic series Soldier Zero, The Traveler and Starborn are also being made available through it and through Boom!’s own app.

The comics come with a free preview of the first issues but cost $1.99 for subsequent issues. The iVerse Media-developed app will also be linked to Lee’s Twitter musings.

The titles will also be available for download on desktops, including Windows and Mac, through ComiXology, Graphic.ly, iVerse and MyDigitalComics.

The three new series, penned by Lee, made their debut last year in association with his company, Pow! Entertainment.

Lee said that given the proliferation of comic books into the digital sphere, it made sense to bring his own titles to market that way, too.

“What’s great about releasing this app is that it enables us to bring the joy and wonder of comics to the mobile fan and a whole new generation of readers,” Lee said. “Comics are a medium that transcends age, appealing not only to today’s young readers, but older ones as well. And by giving them an unprecedented level of access, we’re ensuring that the fantastic stories, characters and worlds found only in comics will endure for many years to come.”

Digital comics have gained popularity and acceptance in recent months with most, if not all, major publishers — DC, Marvel, IDW, Dark Horse, Zenescope Entertainment, among others — embracing the platform. It lets comic readers carry their favorite titles on their phone or access them on their laptop without having to cart around numerous issues.

Boom!, whose roster of titles include Irredeemable, Dracula: The Company of Monsters and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, has put its lineup in its own app, too.

“With the easy accessibility of digital comics, we’re excited to be able to turn everyone with a computer, iOS or an Android device into a lifelong comics fan,” said Chip Mosher, marketing director of BOOM! Studios. “Anyone who’s ever been curious to try comics now has the power to read them instantly with just a click of a button.”

J!NX: None Shall Pass

from J!NX:

Black Knight Bridge Security Premium Tee
Do you have a small, meaningless bridge in dire need of securing? Black Knight Bridge Security provides the finest bridge security in all of Camelot. Black Knight operators are rigorously trained in all forms of martial combat, including punting, biting, and taunting, and they will fight on despite grievous flesh wounds. Since 932 AD, none have passed! (Well, one stuffy guy and his horse-man, but they ran away, so they don’t count.)

New Titles Coming Soon from “RiffTrax”: “The Crater Lake Monster” and “The Devil’s Hand”

from RiffTrax:

Are you a giant, cheaply-made monster looking for a nice place to terrorize? Your search is over: Crater Lake is the spot for you! Get your limp rubbery body down here, you’ll be feasting on mustachioed creeps quicker than you can say “AaaUUurgghh, I’m a monster!!” This small, sleepy community has everything you’re looking for. A sheriff who will refuse to believe in you until it’s too late. Uptight scientists that DO believe in you, for the sheriff to ignore. A pair of drunken hicks to provide aimless, misguided comic relief, and also be ignored by the sheriff. All this, and random unlikable tourists for you to snack on along the way! Just avoid choking to death on all the hideous 1970s facial hair, and you’ll have the time of your life.

Mike, Kevin, and Bill became the laughingstock of the scientific community for their fervent belief in The Crater Lake Monster. But they’ll show them, yes, soon they’ll show them all!!

Coming May 25th: The Crater Lake Monster!

There are some things in life that you’ll do without a second thought. Lend a friend a quarter. Help an elderly woman across the street. And if you’re like the lead character in The Devil’s Hand, join a satanic cult to sacrifice your fellow humans in the name of The Great Devil God Gamba.

Yes, when he encounters the owner of a mysterious doll shop, Rick Turner turns his back on his friends and family to embrace a life of voodoo in the name of the author of all lies. But to his credit, there wasn’t anything good on TV that night.

Once signing up for the cult, Rick is drawn into a sinister web of chanting and plodding drumbeats that make Meg White look like John Bonham. Will voodoo executions follow? They will! Will the victims relish the sweet embrace of death as a way to escape the incessant drumming? Probably! Should you immediately download this RiffTrax? The Great Devil God Gamba* commands** it!

ThinkGeek Flips On the Blinkenlights

from ThinkGeek:

Can you smell the BBQ?

Sumer is icumen in, Lhude sing cuccu! Okay, maybe it’s not QUITE summer yet, but Timmy’s been taking advantage of the warm weather. It’s all about the Hawaiian shirt and the charred meatstuff. It’s a good thing we don’t depend on Timmy to code anymore because he keeps skipping out on work early to fire up the grill.

And since we’re a little short on fireflies for our feasts, we love these jars full of Dreamlight Fireflies. They’re the perfect light by which to nom pulled-pork sammiches, don’t you think?

Dreamlights Fireflies in a Jar
Solar Powered Electroluminescent Robots Under Glass
When summer rolls through and pushes the chilly spring rains away, we’re left with sultry steamy nights full of bugs. Most of those bugs are of the annoying buzzing and bloodsucking varieties, but occasionally they’re of the pretty benign luminescent set. Call them fireflies or lightning-bugs, their blinky-backside broadcasts are as mysterious as they are beautiful. As kids, many of us would capture them in jars which, looking back, may have been a little cruel. Now you can have a solar-powered electronic analogue, cruelty-free, to mesmerize and delight you all year ’round!

NBC Adds Modern Fairy Tale “Grimm” to Its Fall Schedule

from NBC:

Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime? Well, those weren’t stories, they were warnings.

Detective Nick Burkhardt thought he was ready for the grim reality of working homicide in Portland, Oregon. That is, until he started to see things… things he couldn’t quite explain. Like a gorgeous woman suddenly transforming into a hideous hag, or an average Joe turning into a vicious troll. Then, after a panicked visit from his only living relative, Nick discovers the truth about his visions: he’s not like everyone else, he’s a descendant of an elite group of hunters known as “Grimms” who are charged with stopping the proliferation of supernatural creatures in the world. And so begins his new life journey — albeit a reluctant one at first — as he solves crimes with his partner who knows something about Nick has radically changed but can’t quite put his finger on it. Along the way, Nick finds himself unexpectedly getting help on some of the more difficult cases from Monroe, a guy who seems normal at first but is soon revealed to be what you might call a “big bad wolf.” Literally!

While the Brothers Grimm wrote fairy tales that children have adored for generations, imagine if the villains were real, and Nick was the only one who could stop them.

From executive producers David Greenwalt (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jim Kouf (Angel, National Treasure) comes a new world of police work where all cases have a storybook connection… but not always happily ever after.

Grimm features David Giuntoli (The Deep End, Privileged), Russell Hornsby (Lincoln Heights, In Treatment), Bitsie Tulloch (Tyranny, Quarterlife, Lonelygirl15), Silas Weir Mitchell (My Name is Earl, Prison Break) and Sasha Roiz (Caprica).

“Star Wars” Disney Weekends Are Almost Here!

from StarWars.com:

Star Wars Weekends 2011 will be a Tour de “Force” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, celebrating the grand opening of the new Star Tours attraction as the Walt Disney World Resort theme park welcomes Jedi, Sith, Ewoks, Wookiees, galactic bounty hunters and stormtroopers once again for the park’s annual celebration of all-things-Star Wars.

The fun takes place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 20-June 12, 2011.

Ashley will host “Clone Wars: Behind the Force,” a closer look inside the popular animated TV series. James will present another event-first: he will star in a one-man show that showcases some of the many voices he has performed throughout his career, including those from The Clone Wars.

Daniel Logan, who played young Boba Fett in Episode II and The Clone Wars animated series will attend. Dave Filoni, the talented artist and supervising director of The Clone Wars, also will be a special celebrity guest for Weekend I.

Weekend II (May 27th-29th): Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) returns, joined by Bruce Spence (Tion Medon from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith) and Dee Bradley Baker, the voice of Captain Rex and all the clones in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

An event highlight for many is meeting the Star Wars characters, and this year is no exception. More than 60 Star Wars characters will be roaming the theme park, posing for pictures and signing autographs.
