VIZ Media Adds “Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds” on VIZAnime.com and Hulu

from VIZ Media:

To celebrate the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds (in stores October 25th), and the birth month of the Naruto character, VIZ Media has just announced the addition of the Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds (dubbed) to the special Naruto movie marathon on VIZAnime.com, the company’s own website for free anime, as well as on the streaming content provider Hulu.com.

A total of 5 feature films featuring the spunky ninja are now available to stream from both sites thru October 23rd. The marathon includes Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, Naruto the Movie 2: Legend of the Stone of Gelel, Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom (all movies rated TV-14), available with either subtitled or English dubbed dialogue tracks. Naruto Shippuden the Movie is also available dubbed on both streaming sites.

In Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds (rated TV-14), a group of mysterious flying ninja have arrived from overseas to launch a sudden attack against the Hidden Leaf Village, leaving behind a wake of destruction. The group is revealed to be the “Sky Ninja” from the Land of Sky, a nation thought to have been destroyed by the Hidden Leaf Village long ago. To save their village, Naruto and his friends set out to stop this new threat. During the course of the mission, Naruto crosses paths with Sasuke, his friend who has parted ways from the Leaf Village.

The Naruto movie marathon may be accessed from the dedicated site at

ThinkGeek Boldly Goes to Nomnom Quadrant

from ThinkGeek:

Party plans are in full swing!

Costumes are chosen, candy is stashed out of sight so we don’t eat it before trick-or-treaters arrive, and we’re just about done decorating the outside of our houses with zombies and more zombies. Now it’s time to plan our party food! We’re thinking Cthulhu cocktail wieners, NOMskull cupcakes, brainless Ninjabread Men (post zombie attack, of course), homemade pink chocolate brains, and Jimmy in a Wonder Woman apron. Don’t ask.

We’re prepared to ingest a ton of sugar, in short, but that’s not so unusual. Happy Halloweening!

Star Trek Light-Up Feeding System
Boldly go where no pureed peas have gone before! Airplanes are out, starships are in. Introducing the Star Trek Light-Up Feeding System, with starship spoon and motion sensitive light-up bib. The spoon is a replica of The Original Series USS Enterprise NCC-1701, captained by James T. Kirk himself. Flashing LEDs on the nacelles keep baby aligned for mess-free docking at
the face station. Dinnertime won’t be this fun again until we get replicators!

Take $10.23 Off – Happy Mole Day!
Mole Day celebrating Avogadro’s Number (6.02 x 10^23) is coming up this Sunday 10/23 at 6:02pm — or 6:02am, if you’re willing to wake up early for science. So we thought we’d hook you up with a discount, but $6.02 off orders seemed like too little while $6.02 x 10^23 would be a little too much. So use code MOLARMOLE for $5 off orders of $25 or more or $10.23 off orders of $50 or more, good through 11:59pm ET 10/21/11.

J!NX: Looking for a Costume?

from J!NX:

Perhaps the CREEPiest costume ever
Yes, the ever-loved celebration of Halloween is a scant few weeks away. Avoid the usual hassle of trying to come up with your own costume, and just take the easy way out – get one from us! You know you’re going to end up making the biggest splash at the party when you show up with this new Creeper head. Just don’t be surprised if you find it tough to mingle. People tend to try and keep you away from their nice everything when you have this on.

Steampunk + Zombie
Pardon me, good sirs and madams. I hope you take no umbrage at my person should I require sustenance. I thoroughly apologize, yet still find myself lacking in resisting this burning desire to partake of your, shall we say, grey matter. ‘Tis through the courage and resource of my clockwork raven, Alistair, that I am regularly able to find alternate sources of fuel for my locomotion, yet on increasing frequency am I finding myself consuming human remains. Perchance further experimentation with my metalcrafting will provide me long sought-after satisfaction.

Great News for “The Last Unicorn” Fans

After years of legal battles over the film rights to The Last Unicorn, a settlement has finally been reached that opens tons of new and exciting doors for author Peter S. Beagle, such as giving the film a face-lift for its 30th birthday. You can check out the announcements for yourself over at Conlan Press, but there is one bit of info though that was just too good not to share with everyone!

Starting early next year and running through the middle of 2013, there will be more than 80 special digital theater screenings of The Last Unicorn taking place in America, Canada, Great Britain, and Germany. Peter will be at every one of these events to do audience Q&A, meet people, and sign stuff.

The screening tour will launch with a spectacular event at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, then go on from there.

If you live within 100 miles of a major city, odds are pretty good there will be a screening somewhere near you. We’re working on booking all the locations now, and will post dates on a special tour website as they are finalized. That site should be up for everyone to see by the end of the year.

Of course, there’s another reason for this tour. Peter won’t just be showing the current version of The Last Unicorn and answering questions about it. He’s also going to be keeping everyone informed on the progress of a VERY SPECIAL project, and showing off bits and pieces of it as they are completed…

Like I said, just TOO GOOD not to share!

VIZ Media to Debut “Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha”, North America’s Only Near-Simultaneous Digital Manga Magazine

from VIZ Media:

VIZ Media, the largest distributor and licensor of anime and manga in North America, announces the countdown to the launch of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha (Weekly SJ Alpha), a weekly serial anthology of some of the most popular manga series in the world: Bakuman, Bleach, Naruto, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, One Piece, and Toriko. The first issue of Weekly SJ Alpha goes on sale January 30, 2012, and will be available through VIZManga.com and the VIZ Manga apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

Each new digital issue of Weekly SJ Alpha brings manga fans in North America the latest chapters of their favorite series only two weeks after it debuts in Japan’s massively popular Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Currently,
Japanese releases are often several months to years ahead of North American print titles; Weekly SJ Alpha eliminates the delay in unprecedented fashion.

“Simultaneously publishing an official translation of the most popular comics magazine in the world has been a dream since manga publishing began in North America in the 1980s,” said Alvin Lu, Senior Vice President & General Manager. “This is how manga is meant to be read in English – weekly, current, authorized and on the go. Now with Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha, it’s about to happen for real.”

Weekly SJ Alpha will be made available through an annual membership that provides access to 48 weekly issues for 52 weeks for just $25.99. Single issues of Weekly SJ Alpha can be read for a four-week rental from the time the reader purchases it for only $0.99. Each issue, once received on one device, can be read on all other enabled devices through the easy-to-use integrated VIZ Manga app and website.

To prepare fans for the debut of Weekly SJ Alpha, VIZ Media is also offering the Shonen Jump Digital Warp, a limited collection of digital graphic novel speed-ups that will bring North American readers up-to-date with Japanese releases. In some cases, the digital speed-ups will jump ahead of the print releases in North America. The Shonen Jump Digital Warp will begin with Naruto Volume 53 (available now) and Bleach Volume 49 (coming soon).

As more fans migrate to the digital Weekly SJ Alpha edition, VIZ Media plans to phase out the print edition of Shonen Jump Magazine. The popular, one-of-a-kind monthly magazine led the rapid growth of the manga market for much of the last decade and was VIZ Media’s flagship publication since it launched in 2003. The farewell April 2012 issue hits newsstands March 2012.

For more information on Weekly SJ Alpha and exclusive subscriber offers, please visit ShonenJump.viz.com or VIZManga.com.

from ThinkGeek:

Picked a costume yet?

It’s about that time when our friendly local procrastinators start wondering if they should attempt a costume this year or carry a towel and shamble around in a bathrobe. ThinkGeek is not responsible if wearing the Plush Zombie Hat leads to loss of neural pathways.

J!NX: Portal 2 – New DLC, New Tees

from J!NX:

New Tees to Go With the New Portal 2 DLC
The most innovative puzzle game of all time just got a fresh update this week with the launch of the “Peer Review” DLC. After running some tests with a certain psychotic operating system, we put together 4 new designs that are sure to sharpen your room-escaping skills.

I Made $60 Men’s Tee
I Made $60 Women’s Tee
“Welcome to Aperture — Where the science is theoretical but your $60 is FACT!” Who knew you would make so much money with such little effort? Of course you can even double it if you let us cut you open and stick some science stuff in you. That?s $120! And how!

For Science Men’s Tee
For Science Women’s Tee
“I think we can put our differences behind us… for science… you monster.” If Chell and GlaDOS had met at a different time, they might have been friends. They’d have sat down, giggled over tea, mused about what colleges they were going to. Unfortunately they met while one of them was an Aperture test subject, and the other was an insane AI driven by a constant need to run homicidal tests. Fate has a funny way of bringing people together.

Gel Splatter Men’s Tee
Gel Splatter Women’s Tee
Here at Aperture, we believe that science is more than just discipline. If you’re doing it by the numbers, then you’re probably going to miss all the things that start with letters. That’s why we encourage our researchers to think outside the cube and be creative. If an idea doesn’t have a little bit of crazy in it, then it’s not worth doing! At Aperature Science, science is art, and art is science!

Undeserved Compliments Men’s Tee
Undeserved Compliments Women’s Tee
One of the hazards of science is letting your test subject become over-confident in her abilities to surmount challenge. This often leads to critical failures in testing procedures and potato-related injuries. Conversely, it is much less entertaining to watch a despondent test-taker fall from a high platform or incinerate herself in a testing-laser. It is important to keep your victim — I mean, subject — at the proper disposition, to ensure that your science is both fun, and useful! And remember to always dispose of your failed experiments in the proper cremation receptacles! For science!

… and we got a new Quest, too
You didn’t think we’d just put out some new tees and leave it at that, did you? We’ve also put together a new J!NX Quest: Portal 2 in MS Paint. It’s pretty much exactly as it sounds — draw your favorite scene from Portal 2 in MS Paint (or some other comparable rinky-dink graphics program), and you can win 1 of 10 signed Portal 2 lithographs from Valve. There’s a little more to it than that, so be sure to check the contest page for all the deets.
