Nintendo Announces Red-Hot Bundles, New Wii Remote Plus Controller

from Nintendo of Canada:

Nintendo has everyone’s holiday shopping list covered with an array of great new products. These include Mario-red, limited-edition Wii and Nintendo DSi XL system bundles that celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. game on the NES and a new Wii Remote Plus controller that has Wii MotionPlus motion technology built right in. Nintendo already offers tremendous video game value, and these products will make it even easier for shoppers to find fun at a great price. All new products go on sale in North America on November 7, and the limited-edition products will be available while supplies last.

“Whether shoppers want to add a cool new look to their gaming setup or expand their supply of controllers with an exciting game, Nintendo offers a great value for the holidays,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “For anyone who is still on the fence about whether to join the world of video games, we’re offering many fun, easy, economical ways to get involved.”

The lineup of products launching November 7 includes:

  • Red Wii Bundle: This limited-edition Wii hardware comes in beautiful red to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. The bundle includes New Super Mario Bros. Wii and a new red Wii Remote Plus controller, in addition to all the other included items, like Wii Sports and a red Nunchuk controller. It will be available while supplies last at a suggested retail price of just $209.99.
  • Red Nintendo DSi XL Bundle: This special-edition Nintendo DSi XL bundle is also red in honour of the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and features three iconic Super Mario Bros.-themed graphics. The bundle comes with Mario Kart DS, which looks gorgeous on the extra-large screen. That’s in addition to the pre-loaded software of Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock. It will be available while supplies last at a suggested retail price of just $179.99.
  • Wii Remote Plus: This new controller combines the original, iconic Wii Remote controller with built-in Wii MotionPlus functionality. The compact Wii Remote Plus controller offers players precision motion controls all in one unit. It becomes the new standard Wii controller, and will be available from now on in all Wii hardware packages and bundles, as well as sold separately at a suggested retail price of $44.99.
  • FlingSmash Bundle: The new Wii game combines the hands-on fun of tennis with the nonstop action and instant gratification of pinball. It requires use of the Wii MotionPlus accessory, so it seemed natural to bundle it with the new Wii Remote Plus controller. For a suggested retail price of $49.95, shoppers get to enjoy both the game and the controller in one package.

Remember that Wii and Nintendo DSi feature parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit wii.com or nintendodsi.com.

It’s About Frelling Time – “Farscape: The Definitive Collection” Coming to UK!

Farscape: The Definitive Collection
Farscape: The Definitive Collection 32 DVD box set arrives on 15 November 2010 with a suggested retail price of only £99.99

North American fans were delighted when A&E got the distribution rights to Farscape from ADV Films and released Farscape: The Complete Series in one box set, for about the same price that ADV charged for one season. Unfortunately, the rest of the world wasn’t so lucky. Now, for the first time ever, Farscape: The Definitive Collection is being released in Region 2 format for the UK fans, and it should be worth the wait. In addition to the full content of the North American version of the box set, the Region 2 version will include a nice little bonus: The Peacekeeper Wars.

UK fans can pre-order their copy of Farscape: The Definitive Collection at Amazon.co.uk.

from A&E:

Farscape: The Definitive Collection from A&E is a fan’s dream; all 88 episodes of all four seasons of the classic sci-fi show in one stunning box set, not to mention over 15 hours of bonus features including two disc mini-series The Peacekeeper Wars and rarely-seen special Farscape Undressed.

Farscape follows the adventures of astronaut John Crichton, flung through a wormhole to a far off galaxy while testing a prototype spaceship. Plunged into the midst of a battle, he is rescued by Moya, a living craft crewed by a motley group of escaping alien prisoners being hunted by the fiercely militaristic Peacekeepers.

Featuring mind-blowing sci-fi action, superb storytelling, great special effects and character designs by The Jim Henson Company, Farscape has stood the test of time as a landmark science fiction series. Prepare for the adventure of a lifetime with Moya’s crew — likeable hero John Crichton; renegade Peacekeeper Aeryn Sun; short-tempered warrior Ka D’Argo; psychic priestess Zhaan; mercurial thief Chiana and deposed monarch Dominar Rygel XVI.

Farscape: The Definitive Collection features:

  • All four series of the classic sci-fi show — 88 episodes — in one special collector’s edition.
  • More than 15 hours of bonus material including the rarely-seen special Farscape Undressed as well as episode commentaries, behind-the-scenes interviews, deleted scenes and much, much more.
  • Bonus 2-disc miniseries Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars in which our heroes find themselves in the middle of a war-to-end-all-wars.

The Rocketeer is… You

from GeekChicDaily:

Weren’t we all supposed to have jetpacks by now? It’s not just that we expected to have them by the dawn of the 21st century, but that commercial air travel just seems to suck more and more each year. A one-man contraption without screaming babies and overpriced Pringles sounds like a heavenly alternative.

When it comes to long-awaited goals, however, trust the New Zealanders to get it done. Look how many people thought a faithful Lord of the Rings movie trilogy would never happen in our lifetime, but those resourceful Kiwis made the impossible a reality. Lo and behold, the Martin Jetpack is now here!

Assuming inventor Glenn Martin has his way, folks visiting Christchurch, NZ will soon be able to shell out $320 for a ride in one of these things, which aren’t quite at Rocketeer-levels of compactness just yet. Want to own one? That’ll be $100 grand, please (though maybe it’s New Zealand dollars, in which case you can save on the exchange rate). If that’s out of your budget, they also have T-shirts that you can buy. Call it an investment in the company.

If you do pick one up, we suggest steering clear of hibernation-blind, pike-wielding star pilots. And Sarlacc pits.
