from ThinkGeek:

Loosen your belt!

Are you ready for the long Thanksgiving weekend? We’ll be impatiently waiting for our bacon-wrapped bird to roast while lamenting that dual-wielding pickaxes in Skyrim doesn’t let us mine twice as fast. All this while wearing our comfy pants. It will be glorious!

To those who will brave the malls this weekend, we salute you. Good hunting! Ooh, and one last thing: don’t forget to enter our $1,000 shopping spree before 11/25/11!

Portal Turret LED Flashlight with Sound
“There you are!” If there’s one thing about turrets, it’s that they’re uncannily good at seeing things that are in front of them. And then riddling those things with holes. This tiny turret does not include working dual machine guns, but if you give it a squeeze, it’ll light up the dark places in your world with a bright LED and explode with sound effects straight from the Portal and Portal 2 games.

Take $10 Off – Happy TARDIS Day tomorrow!

“The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword” Is An Epic Adventure Not to Be Missed

from Nintendo of Canada:

The most epic game Nintendo has ever produced is set to soar into stores. On November 20, Nintendo introduces The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword exclusively for the Wii home console. It’s a sweeping adventure that all players, regardless of the type of video games they play, will want to pick up. Critics are already lining up with their accolades: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has earned perfect-10 reviews from leading outlets Game Informer and IGN.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a once-in-a-console-generation game,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “This new adventure offers intense sword combat, engaging puzzles and a beautiful, stylized look. Once again, The Legend of Zelda franchise finds ways to surprise and challenge players.”

The world of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is expansive. The game takes players flying in the air, searching through dungeons and exploring on land. Players help heroic Link explore volcanoes, forests, deserts and the sky itself. The epic quest lays the foundation for the events in the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and marks a turning point for the franchise.

The game uses the motion controls of the Wii Remote Plus controller (or a Wii Remote controller with a Wii MotionPlus accessory) to immerse players in the action. Every motion, whether swinging the sword to fight enemies, tossing bombs or shooting arrows, feels natural and intuitive. Players must solve each battle by analyzing enemies’ attacks and defenses and coming up with effective countermeasures.

The game will be available at a suggested retail price of $49.99 in Canada. A limited-edition version will be offered at a suggested retail price of $69.99 in Canada, which includes a gold-coloured Wii Remote Plus controller.

As an additional treat for fans, every game in the initial production runs will include The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Special Orchestra CD at no extra charge. This special recording features 45 minutes of iconic music spanning the
25-year history of the Zelda franchise and offers fans who weren’t able to attend the sold-out Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony concerts in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London an opportunity to hear some of the arrangements created for those shows.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit nintendo.com/wii.

Rogers Shrubbery Services Premium Tee
Oh, what sad times are these when ruthless trolls can post “Meh” and spread their negative comments at will. There is a pestilence upon the interwebs; nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design geek and gamer themed tee shirts are under considerable economic stress in this period in history. Oft I wonder if I should have listened to my grandfather when he claimed that shrubberies were the only sound investment during these unsure times. “Fossil Fighters: Champions” for Nintendo DS Packs a Prehistoric Punch

from Nintendo of Canada:

As consumers dig into their holiday shopping this season, they can discover a way to dig for fascinating fossils and encounter some extraordinary virtual creatures. The Fossil Fighters: Champions game launches today exclusively for the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems. The game asks players to use precision to clean ancient fossils, skill to assemble fantasy teams of revived dinosaurs called vivosaurs and strategy to battle those vivosaurs in a grand tournament.

Fossil Fighters: Champions turns players of all ages into budding paleontologists,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “Up to four players can dig in and have fun.”

Fossil Fighters: Champions requires players to excavate and carefully clean ancient dinosaur fossils using the Nintendo DS stylus as a hammer and drill. The more effectively the fossils are cleaned, the more powerful the resulting revived vivosaurs will be in battles. Giant fossil rocks containing complete dinosaur fossils and two-sided fossil rocks are new to the franchise. Players can discover more than 140 vivosaurs. By finding rare golden fossils, they can even transform certain vivosaurs into powerful new “Super Evolver” forms.

Once players have successfully cleaned a fossil skull, they can revive a vivosaur and prepare it for battle. Players then command a team of three vivosaurs in turn-based battles, using their vivosaurs’ unique skills and special attacks. Players can also rotate their vivosaur formations during battle to give them an edge over opponents.

The game contains a number of wireless features as well. Players can compete in matchmaking battles or upload their best team to see how it fares against others. Players with broadband Internet access can use Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to download additional vivosaurs and events that offer unique challenges and surprises, including a number of vivosaurs that cannot be found elsewhere in the game. Using DS Download Play, one player who has the game can connect wirelessly with up to three other Nintendo DS owners within range and cooperate to expertly clean fossils together.

J!NX: Board Games & Minecon

from J!NX:

Clear off the table…
Continuing in the tradition of bringing you things that we’re passionate about, we’re so excited to now offer nerdy board games. You won’t find anything from Milton Bradley. We’re talking about the good stuff; tabletop games, German-style games, Euro games, whatever you want to call them, we got ’em.

Minecon Exclusive Creeper Vinyl
If you’re coming out to Minecon (November 18-19, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas), be sure to take a visit to the J!NX booth. That’s the only place you’re going to be able to pickup the Minecon Exclusive Glow-In-The-Dark Vinyl Creeper, or the MEGITDVC, for all of the acronym lovers out there.

Show up early, though. We only had 500 of these made, so they’re sure to run out.

The Mushroom Kingdom Goes 3D in “Super Mario 3D Land” for Nintendo 3DS

from Nintendo of Canada:

The timeless platforming fun of the Super Mario video game franchise expands into a new dimension this holiday season with the November 13 launch of the Super Mario 3D Land game. Created exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS hand-held system, this new game places Mario and his friends in immersive environments that players can enjoy in true 3D without the need for special glasses. Also introducing power-ups, enemies and the return of Tanooki Mario, Super Mario 3D Land promises to satisfy series fans, newcomers and holiday gift seekers at a suggested retail price of $39.99 in Canada.

The game’s remarkable 3D visuals make it easy for players to judge depth and distance as they run through levels, collecting coins and bumping question blocks in search of interesting power-ups. Abilities such as rolling somersaults and high-speed dash moves add to players’ strategic options. Players also can play as Tanooki Mario, using his tail to hover or perform floating jumps and attacks. The game’s level design makes use of the Nintendo 3DS system’s 3D capabilities; some levels require players to progress from top to bottom, while others challenge them to move forward into the spatial depths of an environment. This is truly the next evolution in Mario game play.

Mario fans from every generation will love experiencing the Super Mario franchise in true 3D,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “Making your way through the Mushroom Kingdom has never been so immersive, and Nintendo 3DS lets players dive into the action anytime, anywhere. The game is sure to put smiles on lots of faces this holiday season.”

New characters in the game include enemy Goombas with tails and Piranha Plants that can spit ink to obscure players’ view. In addition to familiar special items such as Fire Flowers and Super Mushrooms, players will find Propeller Blocks that let Mario reach high places and a Boomerang Flower that changes him into Boomerang Mario and enables him to throw boomerangs. Additionally, players can examine parts of some levels by using the Nintendo 3DS system’s built-in gyro sensor to pan and explore.

Another unique feature can give players a helping hand when they’re having trouble with a tricky level. If a player loses too many lives in a row, an invincible White Tanooki Mario or P-Wing can be activated, giving the player a chance to complete the level without enemy threats. Players can also choose to skip ahead to the end of a tricky stage if they prefer to simply move on. These features are completely optional for gamers who prefer to play through levels without help.

Remember that Nintendo 3DS features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit nintendo.com/3ds.
